The brand says it’s offsetting the cost via a small marketplace fee when you shop, which went into effect on July 15. According to a press release “the marketplace fee will support continued investment across the Depop marketplace including in Depop Protection, customer support, platform improvements and growing the community.” Some of those improvements include better and more tailored search, easier listing options, and post boosting, according to the platform. This update is, of course, intended to bring in more sellers to the platform (which already boasts approximately 35 million registered users) and in turn, much more clothing. “We want to invite as many people as possible into Depop’s circular fashion community, and we’ll achieve that by making the experience easier, more rewarding and more inspiring than ever,” Kruti Patel Goyal, Depop CEO, said in a press release.
